[00:00:04] Hello and welcome to Talking Cards with Grand Salami and The Jewce. I'm your host, The Juice, and it's just me here today. We are going to be doing an episode on football cards to celebrate week one of football being in the books. We've been waiting a while for the start of the season and it is finally here. This is the podcast where you can find all your sports cards news, baseball, football, basketball. We talked about grading. We talked about different things going on in the hobby. And tomorrow I'm going to have Bert Grand Salami back.
[00:00:33] We're going to be talking some Bowman Chrome and other things. Before I get started talking about football today, though, I do want to remind you we are partnered with Card Purchaser. [00:01:02] Also, great community. A lot of people to talk to ask questions to and just talk about cards. All right, let's get into it. What I'm going to do today is I'm going to go game by game. We had 16 games this week. No buys yet, of course. A lot of football. We had. It was three days. No, four days of football. We had Wednesday, Thursday, Sunday and a Monday night game as well.
[00:01:28] So tons of football going to go over all 32 teams and just talk about, you know, the pieces of the game that maybe we can overreact to a bit. Maybe we can see if it's something that's legit and just dissect the most hobby relevant guys in those games. So for the most part, I'm going to go in the order of the times of the games. Sunday, it's going to get a little muddy, but I will start with Patriots at Seahawks. This kicked off the season.
[00:01:57] Wasn't a very exciting game to watch, but at least it was close. And it, as usual, comes down to the final drive.
[00:02:02] This is our Super Bowl rematch and the Seahawks and the Seahawks.
[00:02:31] I know some of the big stories coming out of it was, of course, Sand Arnold got hurt early. That was a lot to overcome, but that were able to, of course, it looks like they dodged a bullet. It's doing nothing too serious. Sand Arnold will miss next week, but shouldn't be out long term. As far as how Drake May looked, the big story with him and his cards was, finished last year's second in MVP.
[00:02:59] Is he going to be able to keep it up this season? A lot of people say he was working off of an easy schedule. That's what really carried him. Of course, the rest of his team as well. And he answered those questions by throwing three picks in the loss. So Drake May cards weren't really popping off like crazy, even though he did finish second in MVP. I do think that his cards will continue to take a hit. I'm definitely not buying. I don't think I'm ready to sell.
[00:03:29] Seahawks have, of course, a really good defense, and the offense needs some time to catch up in the season, especially the way that the game is played now with the preseason, really not being able to get anything meaningful going on. So I would not overreact to the Drake May three picks. He's definitely not that bad. I don't think he's as good as second in MVP, but I would not overreact to those three picks. But I would definitely think that he is not in for a repeat of last season.
[00:03:58] I don't think that that's really a hot take. I think that's what everybody's thinking. And we do have a couple of other notable things. Jandarian Price, the first runner for the Seahawks. In a close game, he still had 10 carries and two catches. So there's a rookie that was able to get some meaningful touches. 12 touches is definitely nothing to scoff at. They're definitely giving him the chances, and that's what you want to see out of a rookie. You want to see that he's going to have opportunities before the hype for that player to die down,
[00:04:27] especially for a first rounder where the hobby is going to be keeping an eye on him. So Jandarian Price, you know, I wouldn't hate it if you decided to buy on him right now. I can definitely understand that because he's gotten the opportunities, and if he starts to make things happen with those, we can see his prices start to go up. The Patriots, on the other hand, their tight end, third round pick, Eli Raritan, tight end out of Notre Dame.
[00:04:56] He had one catch for a touchdown. So he just had a single catch, but of course it was the best kind of catch you can have. It was for a touchdown. So maybe he's going to be their red zone guy, that big guy in the red zone that they're going to be looking for. Maybe he's someone that Drake May is going to like, but that's going to remain to be seen. But yeah, definitely noteworthy that he did manage to score a touchdown in the opener, and somebody to keep an eye on for sure. I wouldn't go crazy buying a third round tight end,
[00:05:27] but if the price is right, his prices shouldn't be too crazy. He, of course, was in prime time, so we did get some extra eyes on him nationally, but definitely a player to keep an eye on, see if he can continue to be a target in the red zone. And yeah, touchdowns equals dollars in the hobby. So we'll see how that goes. Next game we had, this was the true opener in my eyes. Even though it wasn't in the U.S., this was in Australia. 49ers versus Rams.
[00:05:55] This was such a better matchup. Even though the other one was Super Bowl, these were two teams that everyone thinks is going to be fighting for the division at the end of the day, along with the Seahawks, of course. But 49ers versus Rams in what's probably the toughest division in football right now. The 49ers ultimately won that game 27-7. A lot of people did not see the Rams starting out this slow. The 49ers defense is legit, but everyone expected a much closer game, and it turned out not to be.
[00:06:23] Purdy continues to prove his doubt is wrong. He's scored three touchdowns. His hobby value is not really going to be impacted unless he continues to have games like this. But for him, it's all going to be about the postseason, and if he can have a legit case for some sort of an MVP run. You never know with quarterbacks. Sometimes they just find a way to put it all together for a season. Carson Wentz was an MVP candidate one year,
[00:06:51] so you just never know what you're going to see out of a quarterback and if he can really put those numbers together. But yeah, this is going to be a common theme of the quarterbacks that I talk about today. I'm going to be saying, all right, he had a great game, but his value is going to come down to if he can do a Super Bowl run or get an MVP. Next up, Stafford, of course, with his team only getting seven points. He did not have a great game, but his legacy has pretty much been ridden. He will be fine for the hobby.
[00:07:20] His value is not going to take a hit. The only thing that I can see for his value is it goes up, you know, as far as if he can make some sort of a run, if he could have back-to-back MVPs, I think that's going to be a big ask for him, especially in such a tough division with some really good defenses. But he did it last year, so he can certainly do it again. But yeah, it's definitely a big ask. Or another Super Bowl run, you know, if he gets that second Super Bowl,
[00:07:47] then he's in that rare air of two-time Super Bowl winners of quarterbacks. So that's when his value can really start to rise. But even though bad loss week one, division opponent, home game in Australia. But yeah, I'm not going to go too crazy off of a home game in Australia. Stafford's going to be just fine. As far as any rookies, 49ers have someone worth keeping an eye on. Their third round pick out of Indiana,
[00:08:15] Kalen Black, the running back. He actually led the team with 14 carries. So even though he didn't have a remarkable game or anything, 14 carries is a nice number. It's always nice when you can see those in the double digits. Like that's a meaningful number of carries. Of course, they won 27 to 7. So that running game had to be going strong to protect that lead. So you know that they were going to be rushing in. And that's what the 49ers do though. With a guy like Christian McCaffrey on the team though, for another guy to be able to get 14 carries,
[00:08:43] I don't care what kind of lead they had. It's significant. So that's someone that's going to get their opportunities. And Christian McCaffrey, he's getting older. He's not going to be around forever. A team like the 49ers, you know, that they are very, very good marketing for cards. I would definitely keep an eye on them nationally. People really love them. So yeah, Kalen Black, if you can find him for cheap or a good price, I would say worth buying. I'm definitely not selling on him right now. I will continue to see what he does.
[00:09:14] All right. So next let's get to the Sunday slate. And I just want to get this game over with. As you know, I'm a Packers fan and the Packers at Vikings lost 39 to 22. Yes. It ended up being a blowout. The game was really much closer than the score indicates. The Packers had the lead late in the third quarter. I don't believe they carried that into the fourth quarter. Then the fourth quarter, the Vikings scored like 22 unanswered or something. Jordan Love.
[00:09:43] He looked good until the blitzes were overwhelming. Nothing that he could have done. I don't blame Jordan Love, but his hobby value is going to stay stagnant unless he can put together some sort of an MVP season. Hobby loves the Packers, so he'll be okay value wise, but I'm not really looking to sell him. Absolutely not. Even though they took a bad loss, even if they have a bad season, the Packers, they won't. But if they do, still not selling him. I would hold strong on him.
[00:10:12] And hopefully, you know, one of these years, he's going to have those big post seasons. At least I believe in that. So once again, another guy that his value shouldn't change than MVP or playoff run. I don't think it goes down. The only way it goes down is if he starts to play himself out of a job. Eventually, Justin Jefferson, probably the most hobby relevant guy on the Vikings. And he looked like his old self. He was dominating.
[00:10:37] He was catching things that other players getting open in ways that other players just can't do. Justin Jefferson looking like the number one wide receiver in the league. But yeah, really not much card wise to see from this game. Just those are probably the two hobby favorite guys that you should be looking at. But yeah, they really didn't move the needle. Justin Jefferson, after what could be considered, you know, down here, I guess, definitely looking like his old self. So if you were worried that his hobby value might start taking a hit,
[00:11:07] it looks like you really don't have to worry. Next up, we have the Tampa Bay Buccaneers at the Bengals. The Bengals protected home and won 33 to 27. So good game here. This was a really fun one. If you're able to check it and watch it. Burrow, he looked okay. This is the guy that the hobby wants to love. They, they do love him, but he needs to get back to what we saw early and he needs to stay healthy. He threw for over 250 yards. He had a touchdown and a pick.
[00:11:36] Nothing really special about those numbers. The hobby wants him to do well. So if he can stay healthy for a year, this guy's limit for him in hobby value. He can, you know, reach those Josh Allen numbers. And did I say staffer with the back-to-back MVPs before? He did not win the MVP last year. I don't know what I'm talking about. That was Josh Allen. Now that I remember things are a little muddy, I guess, but just randomly remember that. I was, I was thinking about Josh Allen for a second.
[00:12:06] So don't fault me for that one. But anyway, back to Burrow, if he can really put together what we were seeing early on from him and really live up to that potential, you know, his hobby value is just going to keep climbing throughout the season. As far as Tampa Bay bucks go, they did have a rookie worth taking note of the round three pick Ted Hurst, wide receiver out of Georgia state. He had three catches in his debut.
[00:12:32] Remember wide receivers are a lot more slow going than running backs, or of course quarterbacks that make their debut, but wide receivers are the skilled players, and along with tight ends are the skilled players that it's tough for them to get involved early in the season. Just as they develop outside of guys like Justin Jefferson or trying to think Julio Jones, guys like that, but yeah, three catches for a third rounder in his debut. Definitely not bad.
[00:13:01] He's going to get some looks. It looks like, and these should increase as the season goes on. And as that trust and rapport bills built. So yeah, let's see what he can do next game up. We have the saints at the lions. The lions won this game 31 to 30. This was another great game. It came down to the saints trying to convert a two point conversion in overtime and they failed.
[00:13:30] So they were going for that W. There wasn't much time left. So it was either when it there or best tie for them. So I agree with the decision, even though it did not work out ballsy in the first week of the season too, but I like the decision to go for it. I cannot fault them. But then as far as what is hobby relevant, the big guy in the lions, I think is I'm on Ross. St. Brown. He had 10 catches and two touchdown. So he's pretty much settled on his hobby value. It killed.
[00:13:59] It continue to climb as long as he keeps having good seasons, but yeah, wide receivers like him for whatever reason, don't go crazy, crazy in the hobby. Despite like what they could be doing. He's always going to be like a top 10, top five guy, but it seems like he's never like the overall guy. Of course, the lions had a down year last year, which could have hurt him a bit along with Jared golf, Jared golf. I really don't see his value increasing at all. Unless the lions can finally put it together and make that deep postseason run, maybe make a super bowl.
[00:14:29] That's when you're going to see once again, their value really going crazy. So I would not overreact in any way to these 10 catch shot, 10 catches and two touchdowns. I think it's just a reminder that I'm on Ross St. Brown is legit and I would not be selling his cards at this time. He's still got a lot to prove in his career. I think that he will do it as far as the saints go. Second year guy, Tyler show 410 yards, three touchdowns and two picks. So we threw for a ton of yards granted. It was overtime, but who cares at the end of the day,
[00:14:59] no one's looking at how many yards he threw for with how many overtimes. So very impressive day. Of course, the two picks hurt a little bit, but three touchdowns, you know, that that's a very solid day. And against Alliance team that a lot of people are excited about, even then a loss, you know, he put up some good numbers. So somebody keep an eye on. If you think that he's going to continue it, definitely buy in. I'm not sold, but I'd be more on the buy edge than the sell edge. I'm definitely not on the sell edge of him.
[00:15:30] I want to see what he can do some more and prove it before. I'm really all in. I'm buying. That's where I'm at. And then we also have Jordan Tyson, the Saints first rounder. If you've been looking for him, wondering what he can do. He's not ready to play yet. So nothing for him as of right now. Jets at Titans. Jets won impressively. Of course, it was just against the Titans, but they had a very solid 23 to 10 win. They looked like a competent football team, which is hard to say with the Jets.
[00:15:59] On the Titans end, they did not look competent. Cam Ward, his value continues to just plummet. 140 yards with one touchdown. You know, maybe the Jets are legit. And we're looking back at this game as saying, okay, we should have known, but right now, you know, Cam Ward, you have to do more against a team like the Jets. I finished as badly as they did last year. Didn't even take away the ball once last year. So against a team like that, you got to be pushing the ball downfield more. Right.
[00:16:28] 140 yards and a touchdown does not do it. Does not get anyone excited, but the Jets are coming in with their first round picks. And yeah, they got some guys to be excited about Kenyan Sadiq three catches and a rushing touchdown. So definitely someone to keep an eye on there. That's their tight end. David Bailey, the second overall pick in the draft came on the scene hot. He had a sack and a tackle for a loss. Excellent.
[00:16:57] That's exactly what you want to say. And Omar Cooper, Jr. One catch, but the one catch was for 30 yards. That's a wide receiver. They took. And yeah, so Gino was spreading the bat, the ball around. He was targeting everyone. So the ball is going to get around. It's going to find these guys, but you know, without really focusing on a single guy, who knows if the numbers are going to be there for these, for these skill guys, but we'll see down the line. I'm excited for these guys.
[00:17:27] David Bailey is as a defense, as a defensive player. He's probably my, my buy on the team because second overall pick, which does give him some value right there. Defensive guys, it's not really something that people really go for, but to get a sack and a tackle for loss in your first game. Yeah. That's, that's fantastic. That's something that you want to take notice of. I'm a buy on him for cheap. If I can get him, I know I keep saying for cheap, of course, you want to get everything for cheap, but for defensive player,
[00:17:56] if he ends up being like one of those really solid franchise guys, you know, unless you're a top, top tier defensive player, the value is never going to be there. But I think David Bailey has that chance. As far as the Tennessee Titans go, they did have the fourth overall pick, Carnell Tate wide receiver at Ohio state. He had four catches from 38 yards and he did leave the team. So yes, very solid debut for him. And this is from a quarterback that only had 19 completions. For 140 yards.
[00:18:26] So, you know, not a ton of yards for Carnell Tate, but four catches, he's going to get the looks. Like I said, he, he led the team in the catches. So definitely someone that you can keep an eye on and should be hobby relevant as time goes on. He's got the talent. So let's just see what it leads to with came one as a quarterback. Ravens Colts, not a ton here. As far as hobby wise, that's noteworthy Ravens one.
[00:18:55] 41 to 23. Daniel Jones is looking like giants. Daniel Jones, Lamar Jackson looks like Lamar Jackson. So, and Derek Henry looks like Derek Henry, Derek Henry scored three touchdowns. He continues to be a very dominant running back. But as far as these guys go there, their legacies, once again, are Derek Henry's legacy is just about written unless he does something record breaking or crazy during the regular season or Lamar Jackson,
[00:19:25] finally get over the hump and get to that Superbowl. Your value is where it is at. Definitely something to keep an eye on. Just not till the postseason. Falcons at Steelers. Once again, a bit of a hobby done for these two teams. Steelers, they won 20 to 13. So one score game. Rogers value. Once again, that's set. He has the four MVPs. He already has a Superbowl. So that's the most fantasy relevant guy out there in this game.
[00:19:52] But his value said outside of winning the Superbowl, which I don't really think the Steelers have much of a chance to do. I don't really see Rogers value changing. If you want Rogers, go get him. His value is not going to go down. Certainly the only thing that can happen to Rogers value is it goes up. Unless he says some more stupid, bizarre things and that could hurt his value. And that's more likely than, than a Superbowl win. So we'll see. Bears at Panthers.
[00:20:19] So this was a 59 to 37 win by the bears. And as much as I hate to say it, Caleb Williams, he looked great. A lot of people are pecking to him as like that real, real breakout guy. A lot of people are having him as their MVP pick and his hobby value has been climbing. It continues to climb. We've seen this with players in the past, Justin Herbert, Joe Burrow, Jaden Daniels,
[00:20:49] CJ Stroud, but Caleb Williams game one. He is answering any questions that people had about him and his game. It is not easy to put up 59 points. I don't care if you are playing the Panthers, but yeah, Kevin, Caleb Williams is the most hobby relevant guy here. And he did a lot for, for his name and for the hobby value on him. I can't say to sell him as much as I want to. I can't,
[00:21:16] I would sell him if I personally had him just because I don't want any Caleb Williams, my collection. And I'd rather just make money off of them. But yeah, he has his value. Can you see? Continues to climb. It's just going to keep climbing. I think, I think that he's going to keep putting together these, maybe not games of four turtle touchdowns, but I think the bears are going to have a solid season. And I think overall his value at the end of the year is going to be higher than where it is at the start of the year. And then who knows what he's going to do in the post season.
[00:21:45] But I think regular season wise week 18, you're going to say, okay, I'm glad I had those Caleb Williams cards. And then look at the post season, see when it's time to sell. And the Panther side of things. Of course we have Bryce young, former first overall pick. He had three touchdowns on one pick. He looked good in the game was close for a bit. He continues to improve. Of course he hasn't really been living up to that billing yet, but he has a lot of work to do to get into the good graces of the hobby. Once again, yeah, people aren't really excited. They've soured on him a bit,
[00:22:15] so we'll see how he does. And this was, of course, again, that was a bit of a shootout. So three touchdowns, really good, but not nearly near good enough. Who knows if we'll be able to put these numbers up in a more defensive game, or if they get like a lead or something, we'll see. Browns at Jaguars is our next game. Jags won decisively 34 to 10. Deshaun Watson as a quarterback of the Browns, he's highly relevant at this point. This game just proves it. He really did not do anything impressive.
[00:22:45] I think he threw a pick on the first drive or maybe his first pass of the game, even. So he did not look good. The most hobby relevant he is, is for him to be benched. That's what you're waiting for so that we can see Shador. That's all people want to see in the hobby. That's all people want to see that are football fans. That's what everyone wants to see. So Deshaun Watson, just keep playing yourself to the bench and put your relevance away. Trevor Lawrence, though, he continues to get better every year. It seems, two 45 yards and four touchdowns.
[00:23:14] Keep buying. He's only going to get better. I think I don't see him. I see him as a guy that just is going to continue to improve. He's a guy that wants to improve. The worst knock on him is that he plays for the Jaguars. I think not a very hobby relevant team overall, but you know, post season with those eyes nationally, if he continues to get them there and maybe he can make it push. I don't see that happening, but I could see him being a legit MVP candidate as the time comes. And as he continues to improve,
[00:23:44] maybe not this year, maybe not next year, but he's going to have one of those years where he just really puts it all together along with the team around them. And we will see. There is a silver lining for the Browns though. Two rookies led all their wide receivers in yards. We had Denzel Boston. He had just two catches, but it was for 59 yards and a touchdown. So he was making the most of his catches and Casey conception four catches for 43 yards.
[00:24:12] So the two rookies that we want to see something out of, we saw some things and it was good. They'll continue to get their targets and everything, but with Deshaun Watson throwing the ball and him no longer being Deshaun Watson that we used to love, it's just hard for, for me to see them getting a ton, especially when there's two of them, but we will see, you know, a team that only scored 10 points, one of the touchdowns went to Denzel Boston. So that's good to see, but yeah, I could, I could definitely see being a,
[00:24:41] a buy on them. I might wait for them to have like an explosive game and for people to go nuts and sell on them. If you have them already, you know, have them listed for a really high price and just, just wait for that crazy game because Browns fans will be all over that for sure. Bills versus Texans. The bills won that game 36 of 31. And Josh Allen shows why he's the reigning MVP. That's right. Him, not Matt Safford. He threw for two touchdowns for over 300 yards, but his hobby value, he hit the MVP.
[00:25:11] He's been a top quarterback for years. Now his hobby value is going to be all about that Superbowl run. Regular season, whatever. I know that regular season obviously went better for his division rival, the Patriots last year, but yeah, nobody cares about that. They care about what Josh Allen is going to do in the post season. And back to back MVPs of course, don't hurt his hobby value. I do think he will have an MVP run, not an MVP run, but a Superbowl run in him for sure. One of these years, you know,
[00:25:40] you hope it for bills fans to finally get over that hump. But yeah, outside of that, his value is not going to decline. I don't see it declining in any way. I see the hour just pointing up for Josh Allen, even though it was hobby value is very high. I think it's only going up for him. CJ, Stroud on the other side of the ball did really well. He had over 250 yards and two touchdowns. And we're just hoping to see that he can show us what he did his rookie year. People have soured on him quite a bit,
[00:26:09] but a lot of people are still believers. His price is not as great as they were for sure. So him, I'm a wait and see. I'm not buying. I'm not selling. I'm, if I have him, I'm holding. I'm just wanting to wait and see what he's going to do over some more games. Yeah. Those would be the two guys to really focus out for the game. The two quarterbacks, of course. Dolphins at Raiders. Of course, the big guy out of this is no more world pick Fernando Mendoza.
[00:26:38] He did not make his debut yet, as you know, but once he does, then the Raiders are going to be the team to watch hobby wise for sure. But for now, nothing really special for the Raiders. There was Mike Washington Jr. He had seven rushes for 41 yards. So solid rookie debut for a backup running back. Seven touches is not, not a ton, but it's enough. You know, he's just a backup running back. He's not going to get a ton of touches and yeah,
[00:27:08] it's good to see that he was actually getting the ball and getting a chance. Caleb Douglas for the Dolphins, five catches for 94 yards. For a third rounder, making his debut. That is fantastic. I am a buyer on him. All eyes on him. Of course, there's going to be better defenses in the Raiders, but I think Malik is legit quarterback. I saw him last year and I thought he did excellent. I think he will continue to do. Caleb Douglas does have a legit quarterback.
[00:27:37] I don't think he's like a top quarterback, but he's definitely good enough to continue to be able to get Caleb Douglas the ball. So for a third rounder, hopefully his prices still aren't anything crazy, but five catches for 94 yards. Fantasy wise, people are going to be all over this guy. Hobby wise, I think he should be all over this guy too. I think that he could be a fun guy to get a hold of. Then we have the commanders at the Eagles. The Eagles win that one 24 to 22. Jalen hurts. Worth mentioning him.
[00:28:06] His hobby numbers aren't going to move short of winning and MVP, which I don't think he has a skill to do or another Superbowl. I don't know if the Eagles are still there. They are still a very solid team. I'm the NFC though. There are just a few teams that I would say are better. The NFC West pretty much are better than him overall. So better than the Eagles overall. So I don't see that happening for him. I, I'm almost, I know that a lot of people have been selling on Jalen hurts and I would
[00:28:35] continue to sell or hold. I'm not buying him. I don't think that is how he value is going to be going any higher. Jaden Daniels. He had two touchdowns at 164 yards. He needs to take the next step, uh, win the division, make a postseason run. Yeah. These numbers that he's putting up are not going to help him in the hobby right now. He needs to do something and remind us of why he was that rookie darling when he was. Yeah. I'm not ready to sell on him yet. I would definitely be willing to give him this full season,
[00:29:05] see what's going on, hoping that he can put himself and the team in position to make some sort of a postseason run. As far as the rookies go, the commanders have a third round pick Antonio Williams, wide receiver, four catches, 64 yards and a touchdown. Fantastic debut. That's what you want to see. That gets you excited for a rookie, rookie wide receiver for sure. Uh, their first round linebacker, also Sonny styles. He did get a sack. So defensively. Yeah, that's fantastic. Eagles.
[00:29:36] Now this was a new one. Makai lemon three catches for negative yards. So yeah, I definitely see, you definitely see catch for negative yards, but three catches total and still getting negative yards. It's not a good look for a height. First round wide receiver. They obviously have a game plan for him. Uh, they want to give him the ball in the backfield, I guess, and get them just running downhill or making them make guys miss. Did not work for him in this game. Eagle still came away with the win, but Kai lemon,
[00:30:06] it's still too early to sell on him. But yeah, if he starts to put together some bad games until the Eagles start to figure out how to get things going. Yeah. I'm not, I'm not impressed on him yet. I would say. And as far as buy seller hold on him, you know, maybe some people will start selling on him just if they do start to see a few games that aren't great, but I do think that the Eagles figure it out. So if he continues to have some bad games and you have a good buy opportunity for, he's cheap, go ahead. He's a rookie.
[00:30:36] He's got a long time to figure it out. I've been saying it all episode. What rookie wide receivers usually take a while to be able to break out. I know I named a few that had some good games and he's the one that I'm pointing out that did not, but yeah, he could really get things going for us for you. So let's see what he can do. Next up. We have Cardinals at charters. Cardinals have a, had a very impressive 26 to 14 win with a new head coach, Mike LaFleur. A lot of people were not expecting this. Herbert did not look great.
[00:31:05] 209 yards with a touchdown and a pick. The hobby wants to love him so bad. They want him to be that guy. I said this before with Joe Burrow, but Joe Burrow, you know, he's in a different tier to me than Herbert at this point. Herbert has just every year. He just keeps bringing the questions that we've been asking about him back up. He needs to have a legit MVP type season. A lot of people believe he has a talent to do so, or he needs a big post-season run. He,
[00:31:34] he does have the talent to do so, I believe, but until he puts it together, I can't, I would not sell on him at this point. You know, if you believe that he has it in him, then go on on him by his prices are low. I don't think they'll be lower. Yeah, I would say I'm more of a buy on him than a sell for sure. As far as any rookies that were hobby relevant, we did have Jeremiah love the running back third overall pick. And a lot of people are excited to see him, what he can do.
[00:32:04] 11 carries 41 yards and a touchdown. He was second in carries on the team. So he was not getting a bulk of the carries, but yeah, he did solid average a little under four yards per, per carry. But yeah, the Cardinals game plan obviously worked. I don't think he will get the bulk of the carries for a little bit. I think he will have a breakout game. If you want to buy on him, buy on him now. Cause I think that he is legit. A lot of people believe so,
[00:32:32] but until he puts up those numbers, his prices aren't going to spike. I believe his prices will spike when he has that crazy. One 50 yard to touchdown game, or maybe as a crazy prime time game where he's just carrying the team. We will continue and watch and see him, but I would rather to be in the buy than the self position on him right now. Next, let's get into our prime time games. We have Cowboys at Giants. Giants won 28 to 20. So even though it was a one score game, it did not feel that close.
[00:33:01] Giants looked very impressive in their win. Dak Prescott. He pretty much needs an MVP or so. at this point to move his hobby value up, he's stagnated, you know, Dak Prescott. He's a solid quarterback. He's not bad, but without that, yeah, he's just going to stay where he's at. If you want to buy on him, buy on him now. I don't think his price is going to go down for any reason. Anytime soon, that starting job is his for a while until he starts to put up some straight up bad numbers.
[00:33:29] That's going to be his to lose for a very long time. And then as far as the Giants go, we had some notable guys there. The three notable guys with the Giants that you always want to watch in terms of hobby wise, Jackson Dart, of course, Cam Scadaboo, Malik Neighbors, Jackson Dart, 230 yards and three touchdowns along with over 50 yards on the ground. So picking up where he left off last year, but actually doing it much more impressively in my mind,
[00:33:56] the better part of it is he did not look like he was taking the worst hits and he did not look like he was getting hurt throughout the game, which is everyone's biggest concern with Jackson Dart. But yeah, in a division game, first game of the year, big, big matchup, prime time. He did really well for himself. And that's what you want to see. Jackson Dart. If you're not buying now, don't, if you want to buy, I should say, don't wait much longer.
[00:34:25] He's a guy that if you want him, you better be able to do it now. I think his price is just going to keep climbing. These Giants fans are legit in the hobby. They will buy. So yeah, I would not be selling him right now for sure. I think his hobby value is on the rise and I think it will continue to be on the rise, especially if he's getting these division wings. Cam Scadaboo over 80 yards and a touchdown. And he's a tough guy. He is fun to watch. He's never going to put up like 150 yards. He's never going to break off for like that 50 yard run. Really?
[00:34:54] He's that tough runner will run right at you because he's so much fun to watch. I think the hobby is going to continue to love him. His prices aren't completely absurd right now. So I would go ahead and get him. And Malik neighbors had six catches for 69 yards. I don't know if he's ever going to be like that top five wide receiver in the league. Of course he has a talent to do. So we're seeing that he has a quarterback, but yeah, I just, unless he ends up being a top five guy,
[00:35:24] I don't think his prices are really going to warrant buying him. I would hold him. And he's one of those guys where I would wait for that explosive game and probably sell at that point. But you might, that is a tough one because he's going to be married to Jackson Dart for a while. And him with the giants, that value does have potential to really explode. If he does become that top five guy personally, just from what I've seen, I'm just not a believer in it. I want to be able to see it with more consistency.
[00:35:54] The six catches 69 yards. Yeah, it's okay, but it's, you know, unless you're eclipsing a hundred yards and a touchdown or, or a touchdown or a couple of touchdowns or something, hobby wise, you're really not moving the needle. So the last thing we have is our Monday night matchup. This was Broncos at chiefs chiefs one decisively 31 to 10. And then the guy, the hobby, the current go to the hobby is my homes.
[00:36:23] And his value is not going to go down. There's nothing he can really do to hurt his hobby value. The only thing it can do is go up. So if you think that he has another MVP in him, then yeah, go for it. Or you might just want to wait for the post season with him to see if they got another super bowl coming out. But who knows, who knows how long Andy Reed is going to be around coaching for. But as long as Andy Reed is there with my homes, they're always going to be hobby relevant. I'm not selling on my homes.
[00:36:52] I think that he is a long-term hold for sure. Don't next on the other hand, who I really liked looked awful, but I'm going to assume this is a week one thing. I will continue to monitor it. I would not be panic selling on him right now. Chiefs are very well coached football team. Yes. 10 points and just getting outclassed completely, but they were playing away. It is just week one. I'm going to chalk this up to just a week one offense, not being ready to go yet.
[00:37:21] I think Bo Nix will find a way to write the ship along with the rest of the Broncos. I think that they are a legit team this year and we will see. Kenneth Walker looked excellent, by the way, 173 yards and a touchdown. So yeah, Kenneth Walker is really, really trying to put himself in that elite, elite status. And we continue to see where that's at. But yeah, 173 yards and a touchdown. That's pretty damn good. As far as any rookies, Emmitt Johnson for the chiefs, rookie running back.
[00:37:52] He did manage to get himself eight carries, just 24 yards. So three yards to carry, but it's good to see. He'll get some opportunities. I think he will continue to. He's worth monitoring. He could be a buy for sure. I would not be selling on him. If anything, he's a buyer or hold. I do want to see if he continue to get himself more carries as he works himself more into the offense. But yeah, as a player on the chiefs, he always has a chance.
[00:38:21] He will have a chance in the post season to prove something. And yeah, that, that can really help his hobby value for sure. So I would be a buy on him more than a sell. 100%. That does it. That is 32 teams, 16 games, and all the notable hobby guys. Does anyone I miss that you want to hear more about? You know, you can make sure to comment. This is the talking cards podcast with grant slimy and the juice. I'm your host of juice. Have a great day, everyone.
